How much Should you Charge as a DJ in Dubai?

DJs in Dubai are many. Some DJ Full time and others do it as a hobby. A question that we get frequently asked by beginner but also advanced DJs that recently moved to Dubai is "what rates should I charge as a DJ?"

How does the Genre Played Impact Hourly DJ Rate?

Dubai hosts millions of international people all listening to a very wide choice of music.

From Techno, House, Commercial, RnB to Bollywood Music, there are DJs that specialize and others that are open format.

For each genre of music there are beginner and intermediate DJs, Bedroom DJs that play at gigs occasionally as well as advanced international DJs that practice the art of DJing full time.

Some genres of music are played by a bigger number of DJs and hence are impacted by lower rates due to high supply, this can sometimes impact trending styles like house music as everyone wants to play house when it is trending.

What is a Full Time DJ Salary in Dubai?

Full time DJ salaries depend on the venue and the frequency. In general when talking about full time salary we are talking about a Resident DJ that is always playing at a specific venue, or group of venues managed by a group Company.

These salaries range from a basic starting anywhere from 3,000 AED per Month for small bars all the way up to 20,000-30,000+ AED per month for the biggest venues/ Group of Venues.

Djs that work during the day in another field aka Real Estate (The most common one for DJs in Dubai) are likely to go for a lower part time based salary. Whereas DJs that are full time music producers, entertainers and DJs will demand a higher salary.

How venues Select a DJ?

There are many factors involved in the selection process of DJs at venues. This ranges from friendly connections with club or bar management, to the more financial related calculations based decisions or even marketing based.

A venue will need to calculate how many guests will come specifically for a specific DJ to see if it is worth starting a contract with this DJ, this is why you may see many temporary contracts and testing that takes place to see and evaluate how many guests visit a venue and how many are retained based on the performance of the DJ.
